- Overview
- What is BlogPhotoHost?
BlogPhotoHost.com is a free image hosting solution. It can be used to share
pictures with friends, as well as post images on message boards and blogs.
It can also be used to direct link images from your personal website or
online auction. And best of all, it's completely free.
- How does it work?
Click the frog logo or the Upload
link to be taken to the front page. Select browse and find an image that
you want to upload. Select that image and press OK/Open. Then press the
"Host it!" button. After a short while (depending on your image size), you
will see a number of boxes with links to your image. Depending on your use
for the image, select any one of those links.
- Does BlogPhotoHost.com allow direct linking?
Direct linking is embedding an image into a message board, personal webpage,
or ebay auction. Yes, this is allowed.
- Will the images I upload ever be deleted?
- What is the upload limit? Which image types am I allowed to
upload?
You may upload as many images as you like, as long as each of them is
less than 1024kb in size. You may upload .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, .tif,
.swf, and .png image types. bmp, tif, and tiff images will be converted to .png
automatically.
- Troubleshooting
- I uploaded an image, but I forgot the URL. What do I do?
- I uploaded an image and direct linked it, but it shows up as
a red-x. What do I do?
Make sure you are using the correct link that is given to you on the upload-done
page. If you uploaded an image and it now shows as a red-X, it may be that
the server on which your image is located is temporarily down, however this
is a rare occurence.
- I am trying to access an image, but I get redirected to the
front page instead. What is wrong?
Most likely, it is because you copied the URL incorrectly. It could also
be that the image has been deleted due to violation of upload policy. For
more information concerning upload policies, please visit the
Terms of Service page.
-
When I try to upload an image, the upload does not complete and I get a blank page.
This is probably due to the fact that you tried to upload an image that is greater than 1024kb in size. It could also be that your connection
timed out, which may occur if you have a slow Internet connection. Try to upload another image to see if that solves the problem. If your image
is too large, please see the next question in this FAQ.
- All my images are too big, how do I compress them?
The best way to convert images is by using software such as PhotoShop,
Paint Shop Pro, or The Gimp (refer to the Image
Compression Tutorial). BlogPhotoHost.com will soon have a resize and compress
utility that can be used to resize large images. You can also convert images using
the Easy
Graphic Converter or IrfanView.
This software is extremely easy to use.
- General Questions
- How is BlogPhotoHost.com able to provide such a service?
- I would like an image to be deleted. What do I do?
Generally, it is not necessary to delete a picture that you no longer
have use for, or one that you accidentally upload. This is because BlogPhotoHost.com
has enough harddrive space to accomodate your needs, and then some.
However,
If your image or any image that you find violates the Terms
of Service, please report it by visiting the image's respective my.php address and clicking "Report this image as a violation". A my.php address looks like this:
http://img10.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img10&image=BlogPhotoHost3.png.
You can
also report an image by Contacting BlogPhotoHost.com and by selecting Image Deleting Request in the drop down
menu.
You will
be able to delete your own images if you Register
an Account.
- What should I do if I registered and have trouble logging in
or uploading images?
- This is a great site. How can I help?
BlogPhotoHost.com is free for everyone to use. You can help by posting about
it on message boards, newsgroups, or your personal website. You can also
use the thumbnail feature to post series of pictures on your site or message
board. If you are feeling generous, please Donate to help pay for maintenance costs.
- How do I delete my account?
- What do I do if my domain is banned?
If you feel that your domain was banned without justification, please Contact
BlogPhotoHost.com. Make absolutely sure to provide a direct link to the URL that shows the banned images, not just the site's domain
name. If a domain has the following strings of characters, it will be banned regardless: "toplist", "topsites".
- I have a question that isn't answered here, what do I do?
- Why does BlogPhotoHost.com rename images?
- Can I replace my images by re-uploading another image with
the same filename?
No. In order to maximize security, any image that you upload will have a 3-alphanumeric code added to the endof the filename. If the
filename exists on BlogPhotoHost.com's servers, it is renamed by added an ever-increasing number to the end of the filename. This means that
if you upload image.jpg, it will be renamed to image3ti.jpg (for example). If image3ti.jpg exists, it will then be renamed to
image3ti1.jpg,
image3ti2.jpg, etc. This is done to prevent other people from accidentally
or intentionally replacing your images.
- Why do my images get renamed after I upload them?
In order to ensure the largest amount of compatability, only standard
English lowercase letters and numbers are allowable image characters.
If your image contains non-standard characters, they will be omitted upon
upload. The following characters are allowed: 1234567890qwertyuiopasdfghjklzxcvbnm Additionally, if the filename has over
30 characters, it is shortened to 30 characters in order to ensure compatability.
- How secure are my images?
BlogPhotoHost.com offers the best reliability and privacy protection. Your images are available only to you, and to those
people with whom you share your image locations. Using intuitive techniques, BlogPhotoHost.com guarantees your privacy:
Three random characters (i.e. "2ct")are added to the end of each
image. A 4-digit subdirectory, based on the image name, is
also created. These
security measures ensure maximum security, the prevention of image leeching, and the protection of your image locations.
- Concerns
- Some of my images have no thumbnails, why is
that?
- How do I report a violation of the BlogPhotoHost.com Terms of Service?
- How do I link to an image in a particular way?
- Are there any space or bandwidth limitations?
Unlike other Image Hosting providers, there are absolutely no space or
bandwidth limitations. However, all images that are uploaded must obey the
Terms of Service. Also,
if you are going to hotlink a series of images on a forum or message board,
please use the thumbnail feature. This helps us save a lot of bandwidth.
